New models at Salon de l'Emballage 2014

A number of new models from Ishida will make their début in France at Salon de l’Emballage 2014.

The latest innovations from the market leader in packing line solutions include a waterproof version of the company’s RV multihead weigher, which has been independently certified as having the highest level of water and dust ingress protection, and the IX-G2 dual energy X-ray-inspection system, capable of detecting even the smallest bones in meat and poultry at high inspection speeds.

Other quality control solutions include an X-ray system for PET bottles, tetra packs, carton brick packs and pouches, and an X-ray unit that meets the latest supermarket codes of practice . In addition, Ishida will demonstrate its unique Fresh Food Weigher, its proven Flex-design tray sealer and its recently launched Flex-Grader for meat, poultry and fish applications.

The Ishida stand will be divided into three areas – Weighing Systems, Quality Control and Fresh Solutions.

Weighing Systems

IP rating tests carried out on Ishida’s RV-WP (waterproof) multihead weigher models at a leading UK independent testing centre have proved that their design and assembly consistently comply with the highest industry standards. These relate to dust and water ingress resistance, including the most stringent IP-69K test.

This compliance means the weighers are more water resistant than ever before and are perfectly suited to applications where equipment has to be thoroughly sanitized.

In addition, the RV-WP range is also certified for IP-6X (dust tight), IP-X5 (protected against water jets), IP-X6 (against powerful water jets) and IP-X7 (protected against temporary immersion).

Other multihead solutions on show include the Ishida CCW-M-106 Fresh Food Weigher for the effective handling and weighing of sticky products such as ready meals, fresh meat and poultry or prepared fruit and vegetables; and the compact multihead weigher for small target weights, the Ishida ‘Lilliput’ CCW-M-214W-S/005-SS, offering excellent accuracy and efficiency levels close to 100% at a top speed of 120wpm.

Quality Control

Ishida’s newest X-ray innovation, the IX-G2, uses advanced dual energy technology to easily distinguish contaminants from the product, even in the most difficult applications. It is particularly appropriate for foods where the density of the product and the potential contamination is similar, for example the bone and meat of a chicken which have almost the same density.

The system can also be used for overlapping products, where a possible contaminant may be obscured by product, such as in bags of frozen chicken nuggets or sausages.

Another recent development is the Ishida ‘’bottle’’ X-ray system, the IX-GA-B3034, which provides stringent food safety monitoring for PET bottles, tetra packs, carton brick packs and pouches. Uniquely the machine takes product off existing conveyors and returns it after inspection, meaning it can be easily integrated into current production layouts with minimal disruption. A choice of reject systems is available and the IX-GA-B3034 can also be specified with fill level and cap detection to avoid under-filled and incorrectly sealed packs.

Meeting the latest standards for supermarket quality control requirements, Ishida’s proven IX-GA-4075 X-ray will be demonstrated with a Reject Fails Safe system.

Fresh Solutions

The recently-launched Ishida FLEX-Grader uses a choice of weighing and X-ray technologies to provide a high speed operation with excellent accuracy that is able to grade product to a variety of different specifications. Fast and accurate weighing of every piece can take place using the Flex Weigher, while its X-ray technology provides surprisingly accurate weight estimation.

Grading can be carried out to specified weights, minimum weight or number per pack. It can also deliver target batching with tolerances and priorities. Depending on the application, top speeds of 235 packs per minute can be achieved.

Ishida’s QX-775-Flex tray sealer combines a compact design with high speeds for MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) trays of up to 15 cycles per minute, along with maximum hygiene and high quality pack and product presentation.

The tray sealer is suitable for any product type including ready meals, meat, poultry, fish and salads. The system is also compatible with a variety of packaging applications including standard MAP, skinpack and shrink film applications.
